COVID-19 Testing

UNC Children’s Urgent Care offers COVID-19 diagnostic testing for patients. Testing requires a provider evaluation in the Urgent Care and generally is appropriate for patients up to 23 years of age who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Our providers will determine if COVID testing is right for your child.

The COVID-19 diagnostic test checks for a current infection by detecting the genetic material of the virus in respiratory secretions. Antibody tests which indicate whether the patient may have been infected in the past are also available if needed. COVID tests will be processed at UNC’s McClendon lab, and will take 24-48 hours to result. Separate billing applies. At this time we do not offer rapid testing.
